Herro guys! This is my first time writing a blog, but it can’t be any different than writing a story right? Well, except stories are meant to be fictional and one’s experience in the real world is, well, real. I was asked to attend Galactic Swag Expo this year and it was my very first time being there. I can say it was very interesting to be there. There was a wide variety of things there to experience, very interesting things to look at, and characters to meet. This year our guests were Gigi Edgley, Gil Gerard, Felix Silla, Anne Lockhart, Jack Stauffer, Bryan Massey, Chuck Huber, Dani Chambers, Brian Mathis, Aaron Roberts, and Brianna Roberts. Unfortunately Chuck Huber was a no show for the day and some were unsure if he would even come to the convention. No one could really get a hold of him at all. This of course devastated some fans as they were looking forward to seeing him and had only came to see him. I have to say, though, that my personal favorite was Bryan Massey. He was a lively fellow with a lot of character and spunk in him. I don’t even think the sun falling could ever damper that mood of his. Good guy.
There were also some pretty cool props to gander at such as the BSG Colonial Viper. There was even the Millennium Falcon, but of course it was just the cockpit. They even had the Thunderfighter and the Sleep Pod from the movie “Passengers”. Of course there were a few Batman props such as the Batcycle and the Batmobile from the 1966 movie, but they unfortunately canceled the viewing of the Batmobile from the 1989 movie. No worries, though, they also had Ed-309 (they wanted us to know that it was not Ed-209), The Speeder Bike, The Explorer and Jeep from Jurassic Park, Rey’s Speeder, The Snow Speeder, Luke’s Speeder, and let’s not forget Tardis from Doctor Who (for all you Who fans). There was also a van that was on display that was decked out into the theme of Jaws with of course the movie prop. It was said that the van was found in the middle of the field and its founders worked hard to restore it to its original state. Pretty cool, huh? I would like to think so!
Of course what is a convention without its fellow cosplayers and all of the like! There was BCharlotteD, Scarlet Muse, Mcubed, Mystix Panda, Bunnyteeths, Angelic Empyress, Wil D, Alien, Lone Star Hunters, and a girl named ‘ILoveKimPossibleAlot’. They were extremely pleasant people to talk too and I really enjoyed looking at all of their work. There were also the usual many different displays of products to be sold as well (figurines, pops, keychains, t-shirts, prints, etc). I don’t think it would be a convention without people being able to have the opportunity to sell their custom made work or homemade products such as loose-leaf tea and dog fashions! I couldn’t help to purchase some Peach and Apricot Green Tea from Tea Punk Teas. Of course I have yet to try it since it is of course the infamous summer of Texas; but hey it smelled really good!
Though, I have to say I was really mesmerized by the dazzling display of the Lone Star Hunters! Their costumes were beautifully done down to the very last detail! They were definitely well in character once they were decked out in their attire. I would hate to get on their bad side! Overall it was fun being that Galactic Swag Expo and I would definitely recommend it to the next space nerd! Even Shaggy had fun as he thought he had enough force to choke the life out of Darth Vader! Silly Shaggy! Though, it’s the thought that counts, right? Haha.
